Services

The Vernon County Clerk’s Office is dedicated to providing professional and accurate information to the public, county board, municipalities, and other units of local government while maintaining superior quality.

The County Clerk’s chief duty is to act as clerk for the County Board of Supervisors.  Other services provided include issuing marriage licenses and dog licenses.  Maintain an archive of all ordinances, resolutions, agendas, and minutes. Election administration and assists local municipal clerks (WisVote provider to 28 municipalities).  Additional services: Timber Cutting Notices, Notary Public, and maintain the Official County Directory.

Nestled within the Wisconsin Mississippi River Region is Vernon County. Vernon County comprises approximately 805 square miles and is home to about 31,000 residents who live in three cities – Hillsboro, Viroqua, and Westby, nine villages, and twenty-one towns.
