Services

The Vilas County Clerk’s Office issues the following licenses and permits to the public: Marriage Licenses, Burning Permits and Wood Cutting Permits. In addition to the County Clerk, the Clerk’s Office employs the following Staff: Deputy County Clerk and Administrative Assistant. The Vilas County Clerk also functions as the Administrative Coordinator of Vilas County.

County Information

Vilas County is home to over 1300 lakes, making the county a premier tourist and resort destination.  The county is also a top non-motorized and motorized sports destination, and hosts a variety of hiking, biking, equestrian, ATV/UTV and snowmobile routes and trail systems.  Vilas County is governed by a 21 person County Board of Supervisors, each of whom are elected to serve a two year term of office.  The County Board oversees 27 departments, employing a county workforce of 230 individuals.
